A New Year, A New Start - Welcome to 2025 and to My New Blog!
by Oskar Freye
Welcome to my new blog! I am excited to share my thoughts and experiences with you in 2025. Lets make this year count!
So, I start this new year with being sick. It all comes down to 2024 being a straining year and after finally getting some rest, for the last three weeks of the year, my immune system just went “sudo shutdown -h now
”. I guess working out and heavy lifting in the gym, has to wait a bit longer. But that’s okay. I have a lot of other things to do and to focus on.
The Reason for this blog is not because of new years resolutions. Ok maybe yes it is and yeah you got me there, but i will promise to deliver some good content. But why now? I think we need human written text more than ever. The internet is flooded with AI generated content and I catch myself more and more using LLMs to write my emails, my code, and even publishing some blog posts. This glimpse of self-reflection rang the alarm bells in my head. We all know the saying: “Use it or lose it”. The thought to lose the ability to manifest my thoughts and experiences in written form, to some chew-again statistical model was horrifying. So here it is. The begging of a journey into the unknown.
I have a lot of plans for this year. I want to write more, code more, and learn more. Last year I started learning Elixir and I want to pick up where I left off. Furthermore, I want to grind LeetCode and keep improving at algorithms and data structures. So why not combing the two and write about it? This will be the first series of blog posts you can look forward to on this blog. So I guess you can expect some wild pattern matching in action.
Last November I enrolled the <a href="https://threejs-journey.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">
Three.js Journey by Bruno Simon</a>
,
because i wanted to prepare for an upcoming project. I already made some games and AR applications, so it’s
not the first time I am working with 3D graphics. But I never used Three.js for a whole project before
and I already enjoy the course a lot. Especially the part about shaders and post-processing effects.
Naturally I want to share my progress and experiences with you. So you can expect some cool 3D stuff in the future.
My Portfolio page will be a testament to that. It’s currently under construction, but maybe if you are
reading this in the future, it’s already up and running.
There will be more projects and topics I can’t reveal yet. But I am excited to share them with you in the future.
Software development is not the only thing I want to write about. I am also interested in personal development, mindfulness, philosophy, psychology and physical fitness. I think it’s important to have a balanced life and to take care of your mental health. So you can expect some posts about that as well. Maybe I can share some insights that help you on your journey.
My work as a fulltime software developer is very fulfilling and I am grateful for the opportunities I have. But it also demands a lot of my time and energy. So there is a strict schedule for making this blog possible. There is little time island through the work week that i can use for doing the leetcode problems, working on my elxir project and creating my portfolio page in three.js. I collect the information handwritten every morning and evening into my journal in my native language german. On the weekend I will translate the content, that is relevant for the public, to english and use it while composing the blog post. I hope this works out and I can keep up with the schedule.
May you all have a great 2025! Full of love, health and prosperity. I hope everything you try to accomplish (if it’s a good thing) succeeds and that you enjoy the content I will provide in the future.
